A charm bracelet is something you will want to cherish for your whole life. When starting to build a collections of charms from a young age there are some extra considerations.
It needs to be made from solid gold or solid silver if you expect to be wearing it your whole lifetime. Quality is the key here, plated or filled bracelets won't last the distance of time.
When choosing a charm bracelet for a child, it is often best to select a 19 or 21cm chain and request having it made shorter. Please see this article for more details.
A second option is to choose a 19 or 21cm belcher chain, the clasp can put through any link in the chain to adjust the chain to any length required.
When adding more charms in the future, it is generally best to have a jeweller solder your jump rings closed to ensure your charms are securely fixed to the bracelet chain. You may wish to move charms from one bracelet to another, so miniature parrot clasps are a good choice for this option. If you wish to add one or two charms later, link locks allow you to do this at home, saving the cost of a jeweller soldering additional charms.
